The opening monologue is different than the novel's, but everything else (SO FAR) is exactly the same.
Jeff (Sent 3 years, 6 months ago)
Just wondering, why did you feel the need to change the opening monologue?
ORIGINATOR
Jacob Spickelmire (Sent 3 years, 6 months ago)
Because, in the novel, the opening monologue is exactly the same as the ending monologue, and didn't feel the need for repetition. Plus, I just like this one a little better (no offense, C.P.)

Never mind. I added some of the novel's opening to the ending of mine, and it even made it BETTER. I hope y'all like this. I've read it, and I know you can't critique your own writing, but (to me) I can tell it's atleast not a disappointment...eh?
Eric Thompson (Sent 3 years, 6 months ago)
I think somebody is already making this book into a movie.

SUPPOSEDLY. But so far nobody wants to make it because it's too "controversial"

...and I wouldn't mind if somebody actually READ the script before commenting. I don't care about other supposed adaptations...DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK THAT'LL CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT DOING THIS?????? No. So, if you would kindly READ the script before saying anything that'd be fine...
Eric Thompson (Sent 3 years, 6 months ago)
If you'd kindly not be a fucking dick that'd be fine too. I did read your script. I also read the book and thought it was boring as fuck. I didn't comment on your script because I had nothing to say about it. Don't accuse people of shit that you have no idea about.

whhhhooooooo...burnin off some stress are we? Well, I advise you not to comment on scripts of books you thought were "boring as fuck" as you so maturely put it. But whatever, do what you want...and you should read the new "When You Give A Mouse a Muffin" book, it is exhilerating...unless it's too "boring as fuck" for ya.
Eric Thompson (Sent 3 years, 6 months ago)
That book isn't really new, and I think it's actually called "If You Give a Moose a Muffin". That book was good, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", was better. Both of those stories were actually better than Survivor. Anyways, I try not to judge a script just because I didn't like it's original source. Chuck's got some good books, I just don't think survivor was one of them.

As for blowing off steam, I think you attacked first. All I said was someone was making this into a movie already. I said nothing about how you should or shouldn't continue to write.

At any rate, I will continue to give you and everyone else on this site my honest opinion about their work. You obviously need some criticism because if you can't take it from me, I don't know how you're going to handle it from someone who actually matters.

Enjoy the rest of your script Jake.

Than what was the point of "I think someone is already making this book into a movie"? The words "someone in ALREADY" seem to pop out at me like "why the hell are you doing this, somebody else is already doing it" or "you are an idiot, somebody else has already grabbed this project."

And how is "I think somebody is already making this book into a movie" your 'honest opinion' on my script? You seem like 3 different people on this:

1st, you point out the obvious.
2nd, you blow off some steam.
3rd, you are trying to make yourself seem mature, too bad it's too late.

So no, I will not take criticism from you, because I only take criticism from (what you call) the "people that matter." :)
Eric Thompson (Sent 3 years, 6 months ago)
Keep talking about maturity please. I don't think you've gotten the point across yet. I'm sorry that you don't take simple statements the way they were intended. If you want to continue this little charade and keep battling me over something I never really meant in the first place that's fine. I'm having fun.

So once again, let's try to keep things in context here. If this was really that big a deal to you then I apologize. I truly meant no harm by my initial statement. However I will retaliate when people accuse me of shit that I never did.

If you have as much passion about this script as you seem to arguing with me. Then please continue writing. It will probably turn out better than the book was.

...this has nothing to do with the script. You just didn't do anything you said you did, and I said you did things you didn't do, so now we're even.

...i'll take that as an insult.

Jacob I think he was just trying to give you his honest opinion- he gives it to me on demonclown and I am glad for it. (demonclown is a fan fiction involving the joker and carnage) so it also is based upon something that's already been done. At any rate, Jacob- we are all going to give you our honest opinion on your work- if that is E's then so be it- it's not nearly as bad as what some of the other people give on here... at least he didn't give you 1 star and not tell you why-

he tells me the obvious about the fact they are already making an adaptation, and tells me it's an honest opinion. I don't listen to the worse people who you are referring to, I am just confused by Eric's comments.

I think I'm alright with "OK." Atleast it's not the most terrible piece of writing around. And hopefully the formatt (final shooting draft) didn't throw you off r' anything.
Douglas (Sent 3 years, 6 months ago)
Looks like the hollywood version has got legs again...I love the idea that now both this and Haunted have write/directors attached.

excerpt from Chuck Palahniuk's website on Survivor

"Well, through many ups and downs.... names attached..... and options expired and renewed, it seems that director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is back on board. In a recent interview, when asked about next projects, he was quoted as saying, "I’m working on the book Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk that I’m working on with a friend… It’s a great book. I love that book. So we’ve been working on that.". "

You must really have your finger on the pulse of the people...

Good luck with this, can see much progress has been made.
